Hyderabad: Irrigation and Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday appealed to the Congress party to call off their ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme on on farmers issues on October 27 which is the first day of eighth session of Telangana State Legislative Assembly and Council.
Instead, he invited them to participate in the discussion on farmers issues as the State government was ready for discussion on any issue that the Opposition proposes.
Speaking to reporters here, Harish Rao stated that the Opposition party can place the issues of their choice for discussion during the Business Advisory Committee meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday.
“We have a history of holding discussion on people’s issues until the Opposition parties are satisfied. We are ready for discussion on any issue that they deemed fit. We also assure to allow them to speak for as long as they want. But we appeal them to call off such disruptive acts,” he said.
The Minister alleged that the Congress party was running away from meaningful debates on people’s issues as they do not have enough subject.
He declared that though the government was ready for debates on any issue, it will not tolerate any nuisance by them.
He pointed out that during previous Assembly session, TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy shied away from discussion on irrigation stating that they were not prepared.
“CLP leader Jana Reddy is one of the senior most legislator in the Assembly. We request him to take up the responsibility and ensure that TPCC calls off ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme. We can chalk out schedule during the BAC,” he said.
